Plate of chocolate Christmas cookies

Recipe Story

If you want to win your neighborhood Christmas cookie contest, these cookies will do just that! This recipe won the unofficial 2024 Sunnyland Christmas Cookie Contest, with the prize being a mini plastic trophy and a $25 AMC giftcard!

Rich chocolate flavor with just the right amount of peppermint makes them super festive and unique compared to the usual frosted sugar cookie. They are actually a spin-off of the original receipe that includes a Rolo candy in the center and powdered sugar topping. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix the cake mix, oil, and eggs until it is fully incorporated.
  3. Form a ball of the mix around one peppermint pattie.
  4. Space the cookies out evenly on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 7-8 minutes.
  5. Once the cookies are done baking, move them to a cooling rack and sprinkle with the finely crushed peppermint.
